vibe to production: the founder's field guide to AI coding agents, 2026 edition
A plain-english guide for founders building with AI coding agents. What to build yourself, what never to ship without review, and what it really costs to go from a prototype in Lovable, Bolt, Replit, Cursor or Claude Code to an app real users can trust. Written by Mad Method (madmethod.io), a product studio that builds with AI agents every day.

ten chapters
what's inside.
- chapter 01
the honest state of play
What AI coding agents do well in 2026, where they still fail, and why the demo is never the hard part.
- chapter 02
the map: four kinds of tool
App builders, AI editors, terminal agents and background agents, and which one fits which job.
- chapter 03
the decision: vibe-code, harden, or hire
A simple test for when to keep building yourself, when to get a review, and when to hand it over.
- chapter 04
what it really costs
Subscriptions, usage bills, hosting, and the hours nobody counts. Real ranges, not list prices.
- chapter 05
the workflow that works
The build track: specs, small steps, tests and review loops that keep an agent on the rails.
- chapter 06
the danger zone: security
The mistakes AI-built apps make most often, and how each one gets exploited.
- chapter 07
from prototype to production
Environments, backups, monitoring and the jobs between a working demo and a live product.
- chapter 08
the compliance pre-flight
Privacy, payments and data rules to check before you take your first paying user.
- chapter 09
the launch-readiness scorecard
Score your app in 20 minutes and see exactly what stands between you and launch.
- chapter 10
plain-english glossary
RLS, env vars, webhooks, migrations and the rest, explained without the jargon.

the 12-point security checklist.
Run this before real users touch your app. Any no or not sure is a fix before launch. The guide explains each one and how to test it.
01row-level security is on, and tested
Log in as a second account and try to read the first account's data. If you can, so can anyone.
02no secrets in client code
API keys and service keys live on the server. Search your built site for them before you launch.
03auth is checked on the server
Hiding a button is not access control. Every protected request checks who is asking.
04rate limits on the routes that cost money
Login, signup, AI calls and email sends, so one script can't run up your bill.
05separate dev and prod databases
Your agent should never be one prompt away from your real users' data.
06backups, and a restore you have tested
A backup you have never restored is a hope, not a plan.
07spend caps on every API key
Hard limits on AI, email and cloud accounts, so a leak costs dollars, not thousands.
08payment webhooks are verified
Check the signature on every Stripe or Razorpay event, or anyone can mark an order as paid.
09input is validated
Every form and API route checks type, length and format on the server.
10admin routes are locked
Admin pages and APIs need a role check, not just a hard-to-guess URL.
11dependencies are checked
Run an audit, remove packages you don't use, and confirm every package your agent added is real.
12logging you can read
Errors and sign-ins are logged somewhere you will actually look, without passwords or card data.

the launch-readiness audit.
For apps built with Lovable, Bolt, Replit, Cursor or Claude Code: we read the code, test it like an attacker would, and tell you what it takes to put it in front of real users. An audit and a plan, not the fixes.
- 12-point security check, run against your live app
- a keep / fix / rebuild verdict on the codebase
- a cost-to-production estimate, line by line
- a written report you can act on with or without us

Who is this guide for?
Founders and small teams building with AI coding agents, whether you have shipped a prototype in Lovable or Bolt, or are deciding whether to build it yourself at all. No engineering background needed.
Is it really free?
Yes. Leave your name and email and the PDF downloads straight away. We also email you the link, with one practical tip. No drip campaign.
What are the two tracks?
Pick "help me decide" if you are still choosing between building yourself, getting a review or hiring a team. Pick "I'm building" if you already have an app and want the workflow, security and launch chapters first. Both get the full guide.
Is my Lovable, Bolt or Replit app safe to launch?
Start with the 12-point checklist on this page. If any item is a no or a not sure, fix it before real users arrive. If you would rather have it checked, our launch-readiness audit runs the same checks against your live app in one week.
What does the launch-readiness audit cost?
From $750 in the US, Canada, Australia and the Middle East, £600 in the UK, ₹30K in India (before GST) and $350 everywhere else. It is credited in full toward an MVP or a full product build if you go on with us.
